John S. Salem is a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio. His over 25-year experience as a local attorney and active member of the community provide him with the firsthand knowledge and insight necessary to advocate for individuals in a strong, sympathetic and effective manner.

John joined Denman & Lerner Co., L.P.A. in 2001. John works extensively in the areas of family law, personal injury, bankruptcy, and criminal law. His family law practice includes divorce, dissolution, support issues, child custody, marital settlement agreements and equitable property division. He has recovered several million dollars in settlements for his personal injury clients, including clients injured through auto accidents, motorcycle injuries, medical malpractice and wrongful death claims. He has experience handling cases at both the trial and appellate levels throughout Ohio.

Currently, John practices in the counties of Lake, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Portage, Summit, Lorain, Medina and Ashtabula. He is also licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. John’s current practice also includes general civil litigation and commercial transactions.

John earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, where he majored in both English and Philosophy. John also attended the University of Notre Dame’s prestigious London Program. He earned his law degree (J.D.) from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law where he was an editor of the Cleveland Marshall Journal of Law and Health.

John is a member of the Ohio State, Cuyahoga County and Lake County Bar Associations. He is also a member of the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association and is a Trustee for the Benedictine High School Endowment for the Humanities.

John lives in Chagrin Falls, Ohio with his wife and their three children, all of who, are avid Browns, Indians and Cavalier fans.
